BIMI certificate levels

Show your brand logo in the inbox. Three levels exist; each with different receiver coverage.

Self-Asserted

First step

Unsigned SVG. Some mailbox providers (those not requiring a certificate) show the logo; most major consumer providers do not.

How do I reach this level?

Requires DMARC p=quarantine or p=reject. SVG Tiny PS format, default._bimi DNS record is enough.

VMC

Verified

Verified Mark Certificate — trademark + signed by a corporate CA. Logo shown across all major mailbox providers.

How does the VMC process work?

Trademark registration required. Yearly cert fee ~$1.5K-3K. 4-12 week process. DMARC p=reject mandatory.

CMC

iOS compatible

Common Mark Certificate — designed for the iOS mail client's BIMI support. More flexible trademark requirement; faster purchase path.

When to choose CMC?

BIMI rendered on iOS 16+ and macOS Ventura+ mail. Practical solution for brands without a trademark.

What we measure

Authentication (3.3 pts)

SPF, DKIM (dual-sign + key strength), DMARC alignment. The 3 layers that let your domain say "I sent this."

Reputation (2 pts)

Your sender IP and domain checked across 19 blocklists. A single hit can wreck deliverability.

Infrastructure (2.25 pts)

MX, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, DNSSEC, Forward-Confirmed rDNS. Compliance with modern email security standards.

Content & list hygiene (2.65 pts)

RFC 8058 One-Click Unsubscribe, hidden text detection, HTML safety, URL shortener, plain-text alternative.

Best practices (1.45 pts)

ARC seal, BIMI, Message-ID, rDNS, Reply-To alignment, display-name spoof detection.

How it works

  1. Enter your email

Type the email address where you want the report sent. Tick the GDPR consent checkboxes.

  2. Send the test mail

The system generates a unique test address. From your sending setup (SMTP, ESP, transactional service) send any email — any subject and body works.

  3. Wait ~20 seconds

The system receives the inbound mail and runs 26 checks in parallel: authentication, RBL scans, content analysis. Live progress is shown on screen.

  4. Read your score and breakdown

You see a 0–10 score and a 5-category breakdown. Every failed check has a "How do I fix this?" link. The PDF report is also sent to your email.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Mail Score Test?

The Mail Score Test gives your sending email or domain a 0–10 health score across 26 industry-standard checks: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, DNSSEC, BIMI, ARC, blocklists, content hygiene, and more. It reveals the risk of landing in spam folders.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it is completely free and requires no sign-up. You only share the email address where the report will be sent. Under GDPR Article 17 you can request deletion of your data at any time.

How long does it take?

About 20 seconds on average. When you send the test mail to our system, 19 RBL scans, DNS checks, and content analysis run in parallel; results are shown on screen and emailed as a PDF.

What checks are performed?

5 categories, 26 binary checks: Authentication (SPF, DKIM dual-sign + key strength, DMARC alignment) · Reputation (IP + domain across 15 RBLs) · Infrastructure (MX, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, DNSSEC, FCrDNS) · Content (RFC 8058 One-Click, hidden text, HTML safety, URL shorteners, plain-text alt) · Best practices (ARC seal, BIMI, Message-ID, Reply-To alignment, display-name spoof detection).

Why a 0–10 scale?

The 0–10 scale is the industry standard and easy to understand. Sendnomi runs 26 checks, including extras tailored to the Turkish market (KVKK/GDPR-ready unsubscribe, DNSSEC compliance, charset detection, IDN punycode).

What happens to my data? Is this GDPR compliant?

Test data is auto-deleted within 48 hours; only the score and breakdown are retained. The mail body is purged. Public shareable report URLs never show your email address. Data is processed and stored in Türkiye.

Can I also run a domain health check?

Currently the active mode is a single mail-send test; a dedicated domain DNS health tool is on the roadmap. In the meantime, sending a real test email from your domain gives you a comprehensive check.

My score is low — what do I do?

Each failed check links to a "How do I fix this?" guide. The most common issues are missing SPF/DKIM/DMARC records, outdated TLS, or blocklist entries. Sendnomi Mailserver configures these automatically; expert support is available on the ENTERPRISE plan.
